Bangladesh crushed Afghanistan in WC 2015

Bangladesh avenged the Asia Cup defeat versus Afghanistan as they beat the minnows hands down yesterday in the World Cup.

Batting first under seaming conditions, the Bangladeshi openers were not too eager to score runs.

The focus was more on not to go fishing outside the off stump and let as many balls go as possible and it was a pretty good idea actually. To see off the early part when the ball is moving is very important in New Zealand.

Bangladesh never really cared about the low run rate. They had done their homework on the conditions. They knew the rate could be achieved later if there were wickets in the kitty and that’s what exactly happened.

Abdur Razzak not able to make in Bangladesh WC 2015 Squad

Abdur Razzak has not been able to make the cut as far as Bangladesh’s final squad for the World Cup is concerned.

Despite having played two World Cups, Razzak was not considered good enough to be picked.

The 32-year old had bowled well representing the Lions in the tournaments of 2007 as well as 2011.

But, the emergence of some good spinners off late prompted the selection committee to overlook the veteran this time around.

Razzak had not done wonders in the last season to make a case for himself. He played a few games, but, was just there and thereabouts.

The youngsters were certainly better than him and thus, it’s a fair call made by the Bangladesh Cricket Board one would believe.
