HASSAN MISSES BPL

December 19, 2012

The fast bowler of Afghanistan cricket team, Hameed Hassan, has said that missing the last edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to injury was a big disappointment for him, but, he is looking forward to play in the second edition of this popular T20 league.

Hassan was the only Afghan cricketer who had earned a BPL contract, but, he injured his knee a few days before the start of that tournament and didn’t manage to take part.

In one of his interviews recently, when Hassan was asked how big that opportunity was, he said, “It was a huge opportunity. You know that the Afghan cricketers generally don’t get the opportunity to participate in such big leagues. So, when I got the offer, I was delighted. I wanted to perform at the big stage. I wanted to rub shoulders with some of the best cricketers in the world. But, unfortunately, I got injured and had to miss the league.”

“I was hugely disappointed to have missed the league. But, there is no player in the world who hasn’t suffered injuries during his career. Every player has to go through the injuries and that happened with me as well.”

“I am looking forward to play in the second edition of BPL. Hopefully, this time, I will not get injured.”

When asked about his huge popularity in his country, Hassan said, “It feels great when people love you and appreciate you for your talent. It really feels amazing. Now, whenever when I go outside, people want to take my snaps and ask me for the autographs and I always give them autographs.”

When asked about his hobbies, Hassan said, “Watching football is my favourite pastime. I am a fan of Manchester United and don’t miss the matches of United too often.”
